Coming from a Kenyan and Jamaican background, singer HURU has always been in touch with traditional African folksongs, Reggae or Neo-Soul – genres, which she now includes in her very own music.
Only yesterday London-based Muthoni Claire Mwangi aka HURU has unveiled her debut single. Titled Flowers, the song appeals to self-love and prompts not to lose hope from the obstacles in life as they are the perfect opportunity to plant seeds and watch them grow. What a wonderful message!
Calling her music style “Cosmic R&B”, Flowers delivers a catchy, energizing beat with both electronic and Hip-Hop elements but also a tiny bit of Reggae, and is set to become the perfect summer tune without a doubt! HURU drops stunningly soulful and bold vocals which will make you want to sing along instantly.
The track marks the first release off her upcoming EP Euphoria, a project which beautifully embarks on a journey to enlightenment, self-awareness and life-experiences. Highlighting our three co-existances – past, present, and future – it will touch on the fact that both light and darkness are essential for everyone to reach Euphoria.
