It’s an exciting time for UK Afrobeats these days, and everybody loves it!
Artists such as Kojo Funds, Belly Squad or Afro B, among others, are spreading the upflifting vibes of Afrobeats and making major waves right now – and so are the Da Beatfreakz.
Having produced tracks for the likes of Giggs, Sean Paul or Chris Brown already, Da Beatfreakz are now doing their own thing instead of focusing on other artists. Premiered by BBC 1Xtra’s DJ Target, the result of their first of several following releases is titled Quavo, and obviously referring to a member of the famous rap trio Migos. It demonstrates how the hip hop culture has been successfully spread all over the world, and will continue to do so.
“It’s amazing to see how African music is widely spreading into mainstream audiences. For us it’s an exciting time to be making music, to be part of history in the making within the African diaspora.”
“For the intro we sampled Nigerian athlete, Divine Oduduru’s viral quote ‘We African people we are born great’ – this really resonated with us and felt it was the perfect way to start off our forth coming project” – Da Beatfreakz
Did I catch your interest for Quavo already? Well, it’s only getting better: Grime MC Sneakbo and UK Afrobeats representatives Afro B, Moelogo and Sona are featuring on the new single – isn’t that a great collaboration?
With this one Da Beatfreakz have dropped a feel-good anthem without a doubt. A catchy chorus and intoxicating sound that combines Hip Hop elements, Afrovibes and Bashment is what everyone needed, and it’s perfectly in time for summer season!
I’m exciting for their forthcoming project – to be unveiled soon, so keep an eye out.
