Drawing inspiration from old school legends such as Whitney Houston, Mary J Blige and Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Tabi Gazele developed her very own style of Afropop by infusing her South African roots into her music.

Just yesterday saw the release of her debut single Touch Somebody, her take on the song of South African singer Brenda Fassie. It marks the first single from her upcoming EP in which she interprets the singer’s hit songs.

“I chose Brenda because in her time she was The South African Madonna – She did it for so many young aspirational women – She deserves the recognition even now –  All I have done is added some 2017 bottom end to what were already great songs – Long Live Brenda!!” – Tabi Gazele

Touch Somebody boast with an irresistible up-beat, synth-bass-laden sound and an arousing flow, complemented by Tabi Gazele‘s stunningly strong vocals. Teaming up with Timomatic on the production side of things, this timeless track just got a refreshing, subtle make-over. Brenda Fassie would be so honoured if she saw in what an amazing way she is being paid homage to!

Make sure you keep an eye out for her debut EP, to be released via Ferocious Label Services.
